This committee focuses on educational programs and green building policy issues that impact the building community. Its efforts include developing and planning the HBA’s annual green building week, interacting with policy makers to identify the building industry’s concerns, fighting against barriers to green building, and supporting incentive-based green building programs.

The goals for the BGC are simple:

  • Help develop, coordinate, and promote green building education, information, technical assistance and communications to HBA members
  • Help with the HBA’s Education Committee’s efforts to offer green building educational classes
  • Enhance recognition and promotion of green building amongst home builders and consumers
  • Help oversee awards/recognition provided by HBA to members in the area of green building

In essence, the work of the BGC, under the guidance of the HBA’s Green Building Specialist, is to promote green building among the building community and advance the education and communication needed to increase the green building knowledge base in the community and among builders.
