2010 NW Natural Street of Dreams features dreams in all shapes and sizes
From a 6,000 sq. ft. forest oasis to a hip ideabox home, this show’s got it all
For 34 years, the NW Natural Street of Dreams, presented by the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland, has inspired attendees to dream big by showcasing the most impressive and innovative luxury homes the building industry has to offer. For its 35th anniversary, the show has evolved to highlight dream living, 2010-style. The show, which runs July 31-Aug. 29, is based at Cresap Summit, a new development located atop Forest Heights off Skyline Blvd.
“This year’s show is a treasure trove of home styles and ideas,” said Rick Bernard, president of Bernard Custom Homes and chair of the 2010 show. “The wide variety of home styles and sizes really illustrates the concept that everyone has a different idea of what a dream home could be.”
Show attendees will have access to six homes, including four traditional houses, a detached condominium at adjacent Macleay Overlook, and a sustainable prefabricated model from uber-hip and very green ideabox (www.ideabox.us). They will also be able to view two luxury penthouses on the weekends at the INDIGO downtown. Home styles include Northwest lodge, craftsman, contemporary and modern. One home, a 6,000 square foot European craftsman-style with a Pacific Northwest twist called Forest Edge (presold), is located offsite but is easily reached via a short, complimentary shuttle ride.
All of this year’s homes feature sustainable building practices and several are either Earth Advantage or LEED certified, reflecting the HBA’s dedication to green building and desire to spotlight earth-friendly practices in all its shows.
“NW Natural fully supports the HBA’s continued commitment to sustainability in the realm of home building,” said Dave Williams, vice president of utility services for NW Natural. “We are proud to continue this partnership, and applaud the HBA for pushing the envelope on innovative home designs.”
